Dr. Barbara Brennessel wins the Terrapin Conservation Award


Dr. Barbara Brennessel was awarded the 2022 The Terrapin Conservation Award. The award is given to a member of the DTWG who has demonstrated a long-term and distinguished contribution to our knowledge of terrapin, public awareness of terrapins, or the conservation of terrapins and has demonstrated a sustained commitment in service to the DTWG. Recipients of the Terrapin Conservation Award are determined by the DTWG Board.


Dr. Brennessel is Professor Emeritus at Wheaton College and a long-time member of the Mass Audubon where she has led terrapin conservation and research projects in and around Wellfleet Bay for decades. Barbara has been a dedicated member of the DTWG including service to its board for most of the organizations history.
